Our Beliefs

We believe in the unconditional love of Jesus Christ.

As a faith based organization, we believe that the unconditional love of Christ is the strongest transformational force on earth. In the same way that Christ gave up his life for us, we live to lay down our lives for others.

We believe in community development from the inside-out.

The real, dirty, life changing work of community development happens on the local level. It’s local leaders and their small organizations that are engaging communities and leading them down the path of transformation. They’re not only bringing about physical change; they’re shifting mindsets, expanding world views and inspiring others to dream.

We believe a community rises or falls based on leadership.

Through out history communities have suffered or thrived because of the decisions of their leaders. Whether it’s a family, village or nation this truth remains the same. That is why we believe it is vital to give local leaders the training they need to make good decisions and to equip them to serve their communities well.

We believe in a global community.

We live in a world where a large part of what we consume is produced outside of our own country. Nations have become more interdependent and modern technology has brought us closer together. We have the ability and responsibility to partner with the international community in making the whole world a better place.

We believe in the power of story.

The ongoing narrative of each of our lives is what binds us all together. Through the power of story, our hearts are opened to the plight of others and we are compelled to respond.

We believe in transparency and accountability.

All relationships are built on trust, so whether it’s our affiliates or our donors, we are committed to operating and serving with openness and honesty.

We believe all men are created equal.

We serve anyone in need regardless of race, religion, age or gender.

We believe everyone has basic human rights.

We have enough resources on this earth that everyone should have access to food, clean water, shelter and at the very least basic education.

We believe in operating within our means.

Through creativity and resourcefulness, we will work with what we have to accomplish our purpose.
